Network Engineer
The role
Keep our networks connected, secure, and well documented. You'll work on Cisco and Linux networks, build encrypted VPN tunnels, and automate routine tasks, with room to grow into network security, virtualization, and encryption.
What you'll do
- Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Design, deploy, and support site-to-site and remote-access VPNs with IPsec, OpenVPN, and WireGuard.
- Run Linux servers and firewalls (iptables, nftables, ufw) and core services: DNS, DHCP, SSH, and syslog.
- Handle networking for virtual machines and hypervisors: virtual switches and bridges on VMware ESXi, KVM, and Proxmox.
- Diagnose and resolve incidents from Layer 1 to Layer 7: packet loss, routing failures, and performance bottlenecks.
- Automate backups, log parsing, and monitoring in Python or Bash.
- Keep topology diagrams, IP address management, and runbooks precise.
What you bring
- 2–5 years of hands-on network administration or engineering.
- Linux administration from the command line on Ubuntu, RHEL, Rocky Linux, or similar.
- Linux firewall configuration (iptables, nftables, ufw) and system security controls.
- VPN configuration and troubleshooting with IPsec, OpenVPN, or WireGuard.
- Networking inside virtual environments: vSwitches, virtual bridges, and hypervisors.
- Core protocols: TCP/IP, subnetting, DNS, DHCP, SNMP, and HTTP/S.
- Scripting in Python, Bash, or similar for task automation.
Bonus
- Automation and orchestration with Ansible, Terraform, or CloudFormation.
- Container networking: Docker and Kubernetes CNI plugins.
- Network encryption: TLS, MACsec, and hardware encryptors.
- CCNA, CompTIA Security+, LPIC-1, or RHCSA.
- Monitoring tools such as Wireshark, Nagios, Zabbix, or PRTG.
Eligibility
- U.S. citizenship required. Selected applicants undergo a background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
- An active Top Secret (TS) clearance is strongly preferred.
